Housing is one of the biggest challenges that Victorians face. Even if you aren’t looking to buy, we all know and love someone who is.
Home ownership represents an opportunity for hardworking Victorians to aspire towards building a decent life for their families. Young people deserve this chance too. Additionally, renters’ rights and affordable housing are essential for ensuring fairness.
That is why in our 2023 Housing Statement, we made significant and ambitious changes and investments to build more homes. But we know that there is more to do, that is why the Allan Labor Government is outlining significant plans to build more homes and more opportunity in Victoria.
These plans include:
- More homes located near transport activity centres to create more opportunity and more developer contributions for things like schools and open space
- Supporting renters with banning 'no fault' evictions, faster dispute resolution and cracking down on dodgy landlords
- Helping buyers downsize by making subdivision easier and helping families grow with plans for homes and backyards in the outer suburbs through a 10-year pipeline of land
- Pick My Park program for you to submit ideas for park upgrades and new green spaces
- And much more
